Samoa Joe is widely considered the next big thing in
professional wrestling. He made his name in the independent promotion
Ring of
Honor. Joe held their World Title for 23 months. The title reign was
the longest time a wrestler has held a World title since the mid 1980’s. During
his Ring of Honor career, Joe feuded with current WWE star CM Punk and
independent standout Bryan Danielson.
Pro wrestling Journalist praise him for bringing back a hard-hitting wrestling
style, which has been missing for some time. Samoa Joe made his TNA debut in the
summer of 2005. In his first match, he defeated Sonjay Dutt at Slammiversary. He
quickly impressed the wrestling world. The TNA fans would chant "Joe is gonna kill you" to taunt his opponents, which has become Joe's motto.
In his first major feud with TNA, Samoa Joe would take on A.J. Styles
and Christopher Daniels. They would have several five star matches in the fall of
2005. The matches made Samoa Joe a star in TNA. During this time, Joe would
capture his first title by beating A.J. Styles on 12/11/05 for the TNA X Title.
Joe would hold the title for 4 months. He would remain unbeaten for 18 months.
He would lose his first match in TNA to Kurt Angle. The feud between Samoa Joe
and Kurt Angle would be highlight of TNA in the
fall of 2006.
Samoa Joe won the TNA World Title in the spring of 2008. In the
next few years, people will start to hear more from Samoa Joe as TNA grows.
