Rey Mysterio has been an underdog his entire career. Rey made his United
States debut in 1994. He began wrestling for ECW. There, he made a name for
himself. The highflying and acrobatic moves had never been seen before in the
United States. He redefined what a cruiserweight wrestler meant. Rey's abilities
did not go unnoticed.
In 1995, he signed with WCW and made his debut at the Great American Bash. He
wrestled Dean Malenko in an incredible match. Although, Rey did not win the
match. He made the wrestling world notice his skills. During his time with WCW, he
would win the Cruiserweight title on numerous occasions.
Rey Mysterio would make his WWE debut in 2002. He instantly became a fan
favorite. At Wrestlemania 19, Rey would lose to Matt Hardy. This would be his
first Wrestlemania appearance, but not his last. Rey would go onto feud with
Kurt Angle. At the Royal Rumble 2006, he would win the Royal Rumble and get the
opportunity to main event at Wrestlemania 22. This would be the biggest
opportunity of his career. He dedicated the match to his good friend the late
Eddy Guerrero. He wrestled Randy Orton and Kurt Angle in the Main Event. Rey
Mysterio would win the match and finally become the World Champion.
