Edge (real name is Adam Copeland) grew up in a industrial town outside
of Toronto. Growing up, he was a huge wrestling fan. He sat in the eleventh row
at WWE Wrestlemania 6, where Hulk Hogan was beat by The Ultimate Warrior. The
event made edge want to become a professional wrestler. After high school, he
went to a local wrestling school.
Edge signed with the WWE in 1998. He teamed with his pal
Christian. They would be a tag team together for the next
couple of years. At several Wrestlemania's, the team would have classic TLC matches
with the Hardy's and Dudley Boyz (now TNA's Team 3D). In 2002, management broke
up the tag team up. Edge would pursue his solo career.
In 2005, Edge personal life came into public. His real life
relationship with Lita shows up on the internet. Lita was cheating on Matt
Hardy. The affair was talked about all over the internet. The scandal ended up
causing Matt Hardy his job. Eventually, Matt Hardy would be rehired and WWE
turned the real life situation into a storyline.
Edge turned heel and became the Rated R Superstar. Edge won the
first ever Money in the Bank Match at WWE Wrestlemania 21. He went on to beat
John Cena at WWE New Years Revolution 2006 for the WWE Title. Edge and John Cena
would feud for most of 2006.
Edge was drafted to Smackdown in the 2007 Draft Lottery.
He quickly established himself as the main star by beating The Undertaker for
the World Title. However, he would be injured two months later with a torn
pectoral muscle. The injury caused Edge to relinquish the World title. He would
be out of action for several months.
Edge would suffer through several injury, which keep him out of action
throughout 2008 and 2009. Due to injury, Edge had to retired in April
2011.
