Batista got a relatively late start in professional wrestling at the age of 34. Batista is a former professional bodybuilder and debut in the WWE in 2002 as a member of Evolution. The faction consisted of Triple H, Ric Flair, and Randy Orton. Evolution would be top faction in the company for two years. In 2005, Batista popularity took him to another level. The Evolution would brake up and Batista became a superstar. He won the 2005 Royal Rumble and would go to Wrestlemania 21. Batista would beat Triple H and win his first World Title. He would feud against Triple H. The last match of the feud ended with Batista beating Triple H in a Hell in a Cell. After his feud with Triple H, WWE decided to move Batista to Smackdown. He became the centerpiece of the Smackdown brand and headline several pay per views. In January 2005, Batista injured his back in a match with Mark Henry. He would have to drop his world title because of the injury and would miss eight months. He would return to action in the fall of 2006. Batista retained the world title at WWE Survivor Series 2006 by beating King Booker. At Wrestlemania 24, Batista lost his title to The Undertaker. However, the match was the highlight of that year’s Wrestlemania.
In May 2010, Batista's contract expired and he left the company.
